The music of the Zither is spreading throughout the world. Young musicians in countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, or even Japan play this instrument. Zither music is enjoying a renaissance even in the USA.

The universal love for this instrument, the Zither, links diverse musicians across the various countries around the globe; simultaneously, new audiences are beginning to discover the special sound of this "Enchantress." May she enchant you!

Zither 7 is a Zither convention with concerts, workshops, and a series of competitions being held in March, 2008 at the Gasteig in Munich, Germany.

Since 1995 Georg Glasl has been organizing high-energy Zither festivals, each a unique nexus of old and new music for the Zither in various musical settings. As with the previous six festivals, Zither 7 should also see the debuts of several new works for the Zither.

Zithers at Hershey Gaufest

A handful of Zitherists from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio performed at the 21st Gaufest in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Gaufest was put on by the Gauverband Nord Amerika and hosted by the G.T.V. Edelweiss of Reading, Pennsylvania. This 21-24 June 2007 event was held this year at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania had an agenda that also included dance, numerous concerts, and seminars. Maria Skowronek describes the Zither performances in which she participated.
